"Marine" - 1997. Photoshop painting. My first full-scale digital painting. I painted the whole thing in grayscale layers first, then "glazed" it with layers of color on top. This is a traditional oil painting technique, and I think it worked okay, though it tends to generate larger file sizes. The ship was worked on in a separate document and then pasted in. The ship design is kind of a rip-off of some of Ron Cobb's designs for the Nostromo from the film Alien. The marine's armor and weapon are heavily influenced by the work of Shirow Masamune.
